Dartmouth Events - Dart Marina Apartment Rental
 

Dartmouth is a town with a relatively small population but there are plenty of events and activities throughout the year for both locals and holiday visitors staying at the luxury Dart Marina apartments.

The biggest event by far is the annual Port Of Dartmouth Royal Regatta which takes place on the River Dart at the end of August. Dart Marina apartments which are situated close to the famous Higher Ferry are idealy located for the Regatta event.

Another very popular event, particularly with self catering holiday accommodation visitors, is the annual Dartmouth Food Festival which takes place in October. There is also the highly successful Dartmouth Music Festival.

A fun packed few days in Dartmouth. The Dartmouth Comedy Festival is returning to the town for its sixth year. There is a extensive programme of comedians for shows and workshops at various venues across Dartmouth which should make for another successful festival.

Dartmouth Music Festival

An eclectic mix of orchestral, rock, choral, blues, opera, folk, jazz etc. The event appeals to all ages and since inception in 1998 has attracted both locals and visitors alike and is now one of the major events in Dartmouth's calendar.

Shakespeare Week

The Inn Theatre Company presents King Lear by William Shakespeare in the open air at Dartmouth Castle. And what better stage than the banks and ruins beside the Castle for the acclaimed Inn Theatre Company to do justice to the play and the open air setting.

Dartmouth Regatta

The Dartmouth Regatta was first held in the town in 1822. Since then the event has grown and grown and now attracts thousands of holiday visitors and locals. Dartmouth Royal Regatta is one of the largest in the country with events for all the family as well as sailors and rowers.

There will be firework displays on 26 and 28 August with the Red Arrows arriving for their display over Dartmouth and along the Dart Valley on Friday 27th. Other air displays will include Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on Wednesday, Chinook 25th and 28th, and the Black Nights parachuting into the river Dart on Saturday 28.

Kingswear Regatta

This will be the sixth Regatta in recent times although the history of the event dates back to 1860. The regatta is a fun-filled family weekend which attracts hundreds of rowers and visitors.

Agatha Christie Week

Coinciding with the birth of the famous Devon based novelist, Agatha Christie week is a part of a celebration, all over the country, of the author's life. The week includes talks, performances, screenings of films of her novels, and creative writing workshops.

Dartmouth Food Festival

The Dartmouth Food Festival first took place in 2002 in Dartmouth's Market Square. There were only a handful of stalls but a huge amount of enthusiasm from local restaurants, hotels and producers. Over the last 8 years, it has developed into a major food event that draws around 10,000 people into Dartmouth over the main three days (Friday/Saturday/Sunday). The aim is to showcase the best that South Devon has to offer.

Visitors to Dart Marina apartments not wanting to do self catering are advised to book Dartmouth restaurants well in advance for the dates of the food festival.

Dart Drama Festival

Now into its fifth year, this non competitive festival is playing host to eight amateur drama groups from throughout the South Hams and Torbay, who will be performing a variety of One Act plays in Dartmouth.

Taking part are - The Dartmouth Players, Dit'sum Players, Inn Theatre Company, Kingsbridge Amateur Theatrical Society, Salcombe Players, Shiphay Amateur Dramatic Society, Slapton Amateur Productions and Stoke Fleming Operatic and Dramatic Society. The events are staged at the Flavel Theatre in Dartmouth.
