Vistors regularly return year after year often discovering a new village or Devon hamlet. Listed below are some of our favourite Devon places to visit:

Just along the river from the Dart Marina Apartment is the picturesque village of Dittisham. It has a lovely Norman church, two pubs, a village post office and riverside cafe. It nestles on the western bank of the River Dart and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills and ancient woodlands. There are wonderful walks including the Dart Valley Trail, which passes through the village. Ring the bell near the Ferry Boat Inn to summon the passenger ferry to go over to Greenway Quay and Gardens. In the middle of the river you will see the Anchor Stone - legend has it that the unfaithful wives of the village were tied to this as punishment! Dittisham is also a favourite place for yachtsmen, there is always something to see on the river - a special place to visit or stay.

On the east bank of the river Dart and across the opposite waterside to the Dart Marina Apartment is the village of Kingswear. Crossing the river from Dartmouth there are wonderful views of Kingswear village which is set back from Darthaven Marina and the Dartmouth Steam train. From the waterside the buildings rise up steeply from the river and there are delightful windy streets, a hotel, friendly pubs and scenic views. This is also a good starting point for Holiday visitors who are keen on walking along the Devon coast or discovering the Dart Valley Trail.

Stoke Fleming

About three miles from Dartmouth, along the coast road, is the charming village of Stoke Fleming. It is a peaceful, tranquil Devon setting far away from the bustle of modern life. The village is close to wonderful cliff walks with fantastic views across the bay. There is also beautiful countryside to explore. The village has a pub and a fine church dating from the 14th century with particularly interesting memorial brasses.

About five miles from the Dart Marina Apartment is the small, tranquil Devon village of Blackawton. The village is away from the main roads and so preserves its sense of timelessness and a quintessential rural atmosphere. Set in rolling countryside the village is a maze of lanes and is a previous winner of the 'Britain in Bloom' competition. There is a little shop and church plus two pubs in the village - The George and the better known Normandy Arms. Since 1980 Blackawton has hosted an annual worm charming competition!
